Emma Thompson Says Trump Invited Her Out After Divorce, Calls It ‘Stalking’

Emma Thompson revealed that Donald Trump once tried to ask her out — and the timing left her more than a little suspicious. Speaking at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland this week, the actress shared an unusual story about the former president.

A Call Out of the Blue

Thompson said Trump phoned her in 1998 while she was filming Primary Colors. At first, she thought it was a prank. The billionaire invited her to stay at one of his resorts and suggested they have dinner together.

“I thanked him for the offer but politely declined,” Thompson told the crowd.

Odd Timing Raises Eyebrows

She later realized the call came on the same day her divorce from Kenneth Branagh was finalized. That coincidence made her wonder if Trump had an aide searching court records for newly single women.

The call didn’t go to her personal number either. Instead, Trump allegedly phoned her directly in her trailer, which she described as “stalking.”

A Near Miss for Political History?

Thompson joked that if she had said yes, she might have changed the face of American politics. The irony wasn’t lost on her that Trump called while she was filming a movie inspired by Bill Clinton’s presidential run.

Trump’s Dating Reputation

Between marriages, Trump was known for dating many famous women and often appeared in New York with models. He is now married to Melania Trump, but Thompson’s story left fans wondering — could there have been a First Lady Emma Thompson?
