Trump Launches Task Force to Prepare for 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles

President Donald Trump is forming a federal task force to oversee preparations for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. The move, formalized through an executive order signed Tuesday, reflects the administration’s commitment to hosting a successful global sporting event.

According to the White House, the task force will coordinate federal involvement in the Games, ensuring interagency collaboration on logistics, infrastructure, and security.

Trump, who has expressed enthusiasm for the event, called the 2028 Summer Olympics one of the most anticipated moments of his second term. These Games will be the first Olympics hosted by the United States in over two decades. The last U.S.-hosted Olympics were the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City, Utah.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump “considers it a great honor to oversee this global sporting spectacle.” She also emphasized that sports are one of the president’s “greatest passions.”

LA28 president and chair Casey Wasserman welcomed the move. He described the task force as “an important step forward” in the planning process. “It reflects our shared commitment to delivering not just the biggest, but the greatest Games the world has ever seen in the summer of 2028,” Wasserman said.

The Los Angeles Olympics are expected to attract millions of spectators and athletes from around the world. Planning will involve significant federal support in areas such as security, transportation, and emergency preparedness.

The task force will work closely with local organizers and international partners. Its creation signals Washington’s determination to provide a seamless experience for athletes and fans alike.
