A Democrat Fight Song Is Introduced At DNC Meeting And The Reviews Are Horrible

Party members at the Democratic National Committee summer meeting this week aimed to unite against President Donald Trump and his policies.
But maybe a new fight song wasn’t the way to do it.
An official from the political action committee ActBlue repeatedly introduced a fight song the party could adopt, projecting the lyrics so attendees could “sing along,” Semafor’s David Weigel reported Wednesday.
Weigel shared a screen grab of one verse ― a cliche’d hodgepodge of inspo anthems that went:
D-E-M-S, we rise!
Stronger together — blue skies!
Lift your voice, we’re bold and true,
Onward, Democrats — We shine blue!
Online critics, who appeared to be of many political stripes, gave it a thumbs-down.
“Nah,” Eric Columbus, a former Barack Obama appointee in the Department of Justice, wrote on X. “I’ll stick with our old song.”
Columbus linked to a version of “Happy Days Are Here Again,” which became a 1932 campaign song for Democratic President Franklin D. Roosevelt and was the party’s unofficial anthem for a long time.
Other critiques of this week’s song suggestion were a tad harsher.
“Major cringe,” a MAGA supporter wrote.
“I’ve cringed so hard I’ve turned inside out,” another reviewer cracked.
“There’s no way ChatGPT didn’t write that,” someone else chimed in.
The DNC did not immediately respond to a HuffPost request for comment.
Earlier in the Minneapolis conference, which adjourned early because of the church shooting, DNC Chair Ken Martin declared: “We cannot be the only party that plays by the rules anymore. We’ve got to stand up and fight.”
Maybe just do that without a cheesy fight song.
