Trump Heads to Dover as Four US Soldiers Killed in Iran Attacks

President Donald Trump announced Wednesday he will travel to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to attend the dignified transfer of US service members killed in the war with Iran, as the Pentagon identified all four soldiers who died in Iranian strikes over the weekend.

Four Soldiers Identified

Overnight, the Pentagon identified the third soldier killed in Friday’s Iranian strike on a US base in Jordan as Army Sergeant Angel S. Rampersad, 28, of Ozone Park, New York. Two others died in the same attack: Private First Class Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas, and First Lieutenant Tyler Feehan, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii.

A fourth soldier, Army Sergeant Michael Emmanuel Swinton, 30, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, died Sunday following the controlled detonation of a downed Iranian attack drone at Erbil Air Base in Iraq.

Mounting Casualties as Ceasefire Collapses

Since the US war with Iran began in late February, at least 18 American soldiers have been killed and roughly 500 have been wounded, according to the Department of Defense. Fighting has intensified since the ceasefire reached in mid-June broke down, with 11 consecutive nights of strikes now recorded between the two sides.

The deaths came amid escalating Iranian attacks on US military installations across the region, including strikes on bases in Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar over the past week. The US has responded with airstrikes targeting Iranian coastal defense systems, bridges, and power plants as both sides contest control of the Strait of Hormuz.
